A1.54 Student: Sponsor License Revoked

Students: If Your Education Provider Loses Their Sponsor Licence (September 2025)

When the school or education provider you are attending (your visa sponsor) loses its sponsor licence issued by UK Visas and Immigration, your visa status will be affected. Below is a summary of key information and the actions you need to take:
Top Priority: You must find a new education provider willing to issue you a new Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
Visa Status Change: Your current visa will have its validity shortened.
New Validity Period: Your visa will be limited to 60 days (or the remaining duration of your original visa, if it is less than 60 days).
Final Outcome: If you fail to find a new sponsor and apply for a new visa within this period, you will be required to leave the UK.

Special Circumstances

If You Are Involved in the Licence Revocation

If your actions (e.g., providing false documents) contributed to your sponsor losing its licence, your visa will be withdrawn immediately without the 60-day grace period.

If Your Sponsor Is Taken Over by Another Organisation

  • No Impact on Visa: Your visa will remain valid and unaffected if the new organisation either already holds a valid sponsor licence or submits an application for a sponsor licence within 28 days.

  • Visa Impacted: If the new organisation does not meet the above criteria, your visa will also be restricted to 60 days (or the remaining duration of your original visa). You must find a new sponsor within this timeframe; otherwise, you will need to leave the UK
