B2 University Registration¶

Every school usually has a Freshers' Week, which is generally divided into online registration and in-person registration.
After arriving in the UK, remember to inquire in advance about the registration time and location for new students, and bring all the necessary documents to the registration venue to obtain a student card. For online registration, remember to ask the school or check your email, and you can also search and inquire in advance on the school's official website or other sources.
In general, apart from new student registration, Freshers' Week also includes comprehensive introductions to the school and the use of the school's student systems, among other things.
Reminder: All students holding a student visa, whether attending regular classes or receiving a CAS and have never registered for regular courses, need to go through registration. This includes students who have completed language courses, foundation courses, first and second-year undergraduate students, first-year doctoral students, and so on. They all need to register again.
Reminder: Before going to register, make sure to first go to the designated post office, the student center of your school, or use any other method to collect your BRP card. This is because during registration, you need to present the Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card, which contains your biometric information. The temporary visa sticker is valid for only 90 days from the planned date of departure filled in the visa application, and you must enter the UK and collect the BRP card within this period.
Reminder: Before going to register, make sure to fully pay the tuition fees for your regular courses or pay the specified amount according to the school's requirements. Keep the receipts and do not discard them. Alternatively, you can deposit the equivalent amount in pounds in your bank account in advance for on-site payment and obtain the necessary proof.
Reminder: For those who are getting a student card for the first time, it's recommended to tidy up and dress slightly better since you will have your photo taken for the student card. For online registration, you can touch up your appearance in advance or check if your school allows you to upload your own photo or take it via webcam.
Reminder: If you are registering in person, remember to arrive early as there may be long queues. It's advisable to use the restroom in advance and avoid drinking too much water because the registration process conducted by school staff can be quite fast-paced. Make sure to verify with the school whether online registration is sufficient or if you need to go for an in-person registration even after registering online, as some schools may require an additional in-person registration.
In general, the required documents for new student registration are as follows (please refer to your school's specific requirements):
Original passport (valid passport).
Original visa (usually inside the passport for UK student visas).
Original degree certificate (Chinese degree certificates should be accompanied by an original translation).
Original academic transcripts in both Chinese and English (translated by a recognized translation company).
Original language proficiency test results (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL). If you have taken language courses in the UK, bring the academic transcripts for the language courses you used to apply for language courses in your home country, as well as the transcripts indicating your successful completion of the language courses.
CAS letter (make sure to print it out).
Original BRP card.
Proof of tuition fee payment (note that this may vary each year and differs between schools. Some schools may require proof of sufficient funds if you have not paid the tuition fee, while others may require copies of your bank transfer forms and an MT103 form issued by your bank to expedite the tracking of your payment).
Original ATAS certificate (provide only if required; most students do not need it).
Reminder: Make sure to register in advance and do not miss the registration deadline, as this may prevent you from starting your studies smoothly. Plan your time accordingly and contact the school immediately via email, phone, or in person if you have any questions.
