How to get the HPV vaccine in the UK

  1. Contact your GP to enquire about vaccination eligibility. The GP will either ask you relevant questions or arrange a free medical check-up directly. 2. The GP will send the HPV vaccine prescription to your nearest pharmacy. Pharmacy practices differ: some will provide all three doses for you to store at home, while others will dispense one dose at a time (only giving you the next dose when it’s time for your shot).Reminder: If you receive all three doses at once, refrigerate them immediately upon collection to prevent spoilage—pharmacy staff will also remind you of this. You can ask if the pharmacy can store the doses for you until your scheduled appointments, as some pharmacies offer this service. Simply write your name and date of birth on the vaccine box.
  3. Book an appointment with your GP for the vaccination. Attend on time with your first dose. The GP will provide you with a card or printed slip indicating the dates for your second and third doses. If you need to reschedule due to special circumstances, inform the GP in advance—they will arrange new appointments for you.
Shishengmiao’s Reminder: After receiving the vaccine, it’s advisable to stay seated and rest for 30 minutes.
Shishengmiao’s Reminder: If you are over the eligible age for free vaccination, you can book a paid one. The cost ranges from around £400 to £500. Prices vary by pharmacy, so it’s recommended to enquire directly at pharmacies.
