C2.5 International Student Identity Card (ISIC)¶
ISIC

With the card shown above, you get discounts at many shops, restaurants, attractions (either free or discounted entry), and on train tickets, flights, etc., in over 130 countries worldwide. It's particularly cost-effective for travelling in European countries, where discounts are widely available, helping you save a significant amount of money... It's definitely worth getting for your Christmas trip...
This card is the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), the only internationally recognised proof of full-time student status. If you apply for the UK NUS Extra student discount card, you can get a one-year ISIC card for free.
So, who can apply for the ISIC?
Answer: Full-time students (i.e., any full-time university student aged 12 or above from any country, including those at college, undergraduate, master's, or PhD level, etc.). All you young travel enthusiasts, get on it! University students in China can also apply – it's great value.
What is the validity period?
Answer: The card is valid for a maximum of 16 months. The start date is typically either 1st September or 1st December, depending on the specific academic term dates in the applicant's country.
How much does it cost?
Answer: The fee varies by country, generally ranging from $4 to $25. For example, the cost in the UK is £12.
How do you apply? What documents are required?
Student ID card (most university cards don't clearly show the expiry date or confirm full-time status, so it's better to provide a Proof of Student Status letter from your university. Coventry University students can generate this themselves via SOLAR very easily) OR a Proof of Student Status letter from your institution.
Passport.
A recent passport-style photograph.
As shown in the image below:

Applying online is also very convenient.
First, log in to the website: https://uk2-online.aliveplatform.com/ordering/card-type-selection?
When filling in your details, you will be asked for your UK home address. You can then choose whether to pay an extra £1 for faster delivery to your home. Standard delivery takes 5 to 10 working days, but paying the extra £1 means delivery can be as quick as 2 days, or at most 3 to 5 days. Of course, if you are about to travel to Europe soon, it is recommended to add the £1.
Upload your electronic Proof of Student Status letter, a digital copy of your passport, and a digital passport-style photograph with a white background. The photo requirements are as follows (you can take it with your mobile phone against a plain white wall and then edit it accordingly).
After completing the payment, you can relax at home and wait for your ISIC card to arrive.
