A2.1 Medical Examination¶
Medical Examination (202510)
For Chinese international students, neither the UK government nor universities impose a compulsory medical examination requirement. However, upon entry, border control may conduct spot checks to verify if students possess a health certificate. Should a student be unable to present one, an on-the-spot medical examination may be required. To minimise potential complications, the Education Section of the British Embassy advises students to complete their medical examinations in advance.
The examination must be carried out at a medical centre under the jurisdiction of the local Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. Upon passing the examination, two certificates will be issued: the "International Travel Health Certificate" and the "International Certificate of Vaccination". The former resembles a standard health check, covering items such as blood pressure, pulse, vision, ENT (ear, nose, and throat) examination, and heart check, amongst others. The latter is a vaccination certificate intended to prevent the spread of serious infectious diseases of international concern.
